Deep tissue massage in my opinion is the best form of massage therapy for those clients looking for relief and release of tension in achy sore muscles. Though it may be a bit uncomfortable at first, especially for those who are new to this brand of therapy, the results can be quite rewarding. But it is not only deep tissue massage which I provide when engaged in such a session. I also couple the DT massage with stretching. This is what many of my clients find unique and very interesting, and often claim that just such a combination of techniques has never been utilized on them before. They state the stretching is what really helps. It not only loosens the muscles but also the fascia and connective tissue supporting the muscles. This has the effect of allowing more flexibility and mobility at the joints while the DT massage 'smooths out' the muscles themselves and cleanses them of the toxins which build up during daily activities, especially exercising (be it weightlifting or running or whatever), or outdoor activities involving much movement such as yard work and gardening. I often tell my clients during our post-session talks that the stretches I employed during the massage are also helpful when at home and to engage in such stretches I had performed several times a day so as to stay loose and limber and flexible. In so doing, the muscles have a greater chance of remaining loose and won't tighten up so much causing the pain and soreness which brings them to me to fix. My brand of therapy may not be for everyone. But giving this method a try might end up being just what you were looking for when attempting to get those sore tense muscles free from pain and discomfort and those nasty 'knots' which can be quite problematic. Give Concord Deep Tissue Massage a try. I think you'll find it a worthwhile investment.
